Erin Elphee, RN, MN, CON(C), has been an oncology nurse for 10 years in various roles, including chemotherapy administration, acute inpatient oncology care, and palliative care. For the past six years, she has been a primary clinic nurse for Lymphoma and Malignant Hematology Disease Site Groups at CancerCare Manitoba in Winnipeg, Canada. Erin is an active member of the Canadian Association of Nurses in Oncology and the president of the provincial chapter for Manitoba. She is a master’s-prepared nurse, and the focus of her comprehensive exam was uncertainty and information needs of patients diagnosed with chronic lymphocytic leukemia.
Kimberly George, MSN, RN, ACNS-BC, OCN®, is an adult health CNS in Wichita Falls, TX. She has been an oncology nurse for 11 years and is an ONS chemotherapy trainer and an End of Life Nursing Education Consortium trainer. Kim was recognized in 2006 as an ambassador for the American Cancer Society’s national Celebration on the Hill, and she received the OCN® of the Year award from ONS in 2007. She is a member of the 2008 ONS Institutes of Learning Planning Team.
Jeanine Gordon, RN, MSN, OCN®, is a clinical nurse specialist/nurse manager who lives in Brooklyn, NY. She received her bachelor’s in nursing from Hampton University in Hampton, VA, and completed Long Island University’s Master Executive Program for Nursing and Health Care Management. She has been an oncology nurse for seven years at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and currently works in ambulatory care. Jeanine manages about 30 chemotherapy nurses that treat patients with various solid tumors types. She loves traveling and shopping.
Sandy Powell, CMSRN, graduated from Armstrong State College in Savannah, GA, in 1987, and has spent the majority of her career in oncology. She has held staff and director positions and has been a clinical research coordinator for the past five years, currently for Summit Cancer Care in Savannah. Sandy lives in rural Georgia (Newington, GA) with her husband. They have three children, two grandchildren, eight ducks, and a Siamese cat.
Joni Watson, MSN, MBA, RN, OCN®,
is the program director for the Nurse Oncology Education Program (NOEP), a project of the Texas Nurses Association/Foundation funded by the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas, which educates Texas nurses in all fields of practice on cancer prevention, detection, treatment, and survivorship. Joni holds her degrees from the University of Texas at Arlington and the University of Texas at Tyler and is a member of the Central Texas ONS chapter (CTONS). She resides in Austin, TX, and enjoys reading, shoe shopping, and spending time with her family.
Kari Wujcik, RN, BSN, works at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt University as a nurse extern in the pediatric intensive care and cardiology units. She resides in Nashville, TN. “I am honored to be apart of this blog opportunity,” Kari says. “As a future nurse, I am very interested in specializing in pediatric critical care, cardiology, and oncology.”
